Quilt Baby

Quilt Baby pairs the challenge of human reproduction with a longing for handmade modes of visual production. Sutton creates fabric patches for a time-based video quilt using multiple generations of scanning technologies, such as a Sandin Image Processor, 3D dental scanners, Black Magic cameras, Magnetic Resonance and Ultra Sound Imaging. Patches show contradicting desire and anxiety for modern medical treatments, AI-created images, the concept of a “fertility cliff”, the urge to nest, and ultimately a dependency on the digital screen to piece it all together.
