You Could Be the One for Me
You Could Be the One for Me is looking at the ways in which prolonged quarantine has affected how we relate to ourselves: why are we drawn to our own face on Zoom rather than the talking boxes of others, yet are also compelled to record ourselves sharing the screen with strangers on TikTok? Impeded by the limitations of space and time, the performed-subject is unable to learn choreography with her reflection, nor effectively communicate with a split-screen of herself. Because of its critical facilitation in transgressing these limits, the camera finds acceptance as the third, scrutinizing member in the mimetic relationship.
